Little is known about the true origins of the Russian Blue cat. Some think Russian Blues are a natural breed originating in the islands Archangel in northern Russia. Blue is thought of Russia in England and Northern Europe were brought in 1860. What is known that Russian Blues were the first time at the Crystal Palace in England in 1875 in competition, but were not recognized as a distinct class of cat until 1912. Though Russian Blues were brought to America in early 1900, interest in the race just after the Second World War to develop.
